Beau Crescent Turns Four | A Kawaii Tagaytay Getaway

Beau turned four last April 17 and we took her for a quick adventure in Tagaytay City! If you've been following me in social media, I have always expressed how I dislike throwing parties for birthday celebrations. Aside from the fact that I don't find the expenses reasonable, for me, memories and experiences are always the best birthday gifts.

Finding harmony in Lolita Fashion and the Konmari method

"How do you do it?"

I've heard it several times from the past two years since I began my Konmari journey. I'm still a work in progress but I can say at this point I finally found the harmony in being a lolita and applying konmari in my life. In this post I will share with you how I did it and how it led me to a happier state by letting go.

Lolita Wardrobe Post 2018

I'm more than 10 years into the fashion and it's my first wardrobe post ever. :)) If you've been following me on social media, it's clear that my clothes are either obtained from thrift shopping or I make my own. I don't really do much online shopping. 95% of the clothes featured here are thrift store finds ranging from as low as 10 pesos and up to 180 pesos ($0.20 - $3.50) and a small percentage of handmade which reminds me I should be making more versatile stuff for myself lol. #designerproblems

I'm also in a process of tidying via the konmari method so everything I will show you are pieces that truly "spark joy". I've been looking into the capsule wardrobe lifestyle too but it's kinda contradicting with lolita fashion for it has a collective aspect in it. What I did is I tweaked it into something that can match my lifestyle so after decluttering and destashing my possessions, I ended up with a combined wardrobe for both lolita fashion and my everyday casual wear. Meaning, I held on to versatile pieces that I can wear in and out of lolita so I don't have to keep two separate wardrobes.

So let's begin!

2017: A year of rediscovery

If I would describe 2017 in one single word it is a year of rediscovery. It was a year I was able to reassess my inner self and somehow the universe also materialized most of it in the physical world I am living in. It required bumps and I had to deal with days full of anxiety but with time and patience, everything fell in to place and I can say my state of being right now is the most peaceful I had become.

Lace Up! 2017 in my eyes (An organizer's point of view)

It's been two weeks since we wrapped up our first ever lolita fashion mini-con, Lace Up! and as the head organizer, I'm still processing how something as visionary as this has finally been realized. I found myself putting off my thoughts and feelings from this experience because as cliche as it sounds, it felt surreal! I had my doubts and although hopeful, I kept my expectations grounded because I believe that we can dream but we also have to be realistic on what can be achieved at a time.

Baguio 2016 with family and Ger

Just a quick documentation of my birthday adventure for this year. Went to Baguio again  with family and this time, one of my bestfriends, Ger, tagged along! Was able to score lots of ukay (thrift finds) for our j-fashion resale shop, Labyrinth Garden. It was raining nonstop and was really cold (my phone says 14 degrees, yikes! I'm already freezing at 17 so how about that lol) The experience was gold though since we don't have fogs and winter-ish weather in Manila but I wish we were equipped with proper clothing hahaha. Nagkulang layering ko! :))

"Cerulean Calm"

Realization: I kind of know now why my blogging has gone downhill. I can't keep up with the requirement of perfectly curating every posts. It was easier way back.. the advantages of being young, carefree and emphasis on ~living with the parents~. Life was easier so it was easier to make time for less important stuff. And by important, my life lately is mostly consumed on playing offense with financials and building assets for our family + mommy duties and doing so would need rolled sleeves and swept back hair. I'm embracing what I need to be right now though so I'm not complaining.

Last week, me and the family spent a staycation in a condo accommodation from a listing I found in AirBnb. Chic interior, yass! Perfect for a quick photoshoot because I've been meaning to shoot these dresses for a long time already. I was thinking of a forest-y location but the thought of Manila's sweltering heat kept me setting this project aside. Finally I found a pretty nice place to do this: privacy + aircon = yass pleasee! hahaha.

Hope you enjoy the photos!

A little change..

I have decided to finally let go of my old cyber alias, jajaneko. I'm getting old and I figured I need to become more formal and professional if I seek to become a professional designer. I want my real life identity to match online as well. So yep, if you noticed, my url in this blog has been changed. Most of my jajaneko accounts has been renamed, if not, deleted. Though, I can't do that to my deviantart account. lol. XD I'll just buy a domain for it though.

I also plan to buy the label 'Justine Chantelle' to brand the pieces I make. Dorotee Sweetlips will be a sub-label of Justine Chantelle for I still want a different plane for my lolita work. I treat lolita as a big part of my youth and it has been my stepping stone towards the world of fashion. It's my comfort zone. Dorotee Sweetlips will forever exist so that when I get old or feel too old, I can always go back home and be young again.

Anyway, I just bought a domain for this blog. I would have to fix it now. Thanks for reading!

When life gets complicated, it's time to be a cat.

It seems like I have started this week on a downside. Some people are just too difficult. That is normal, yes. But some are just too clingy.. too clingy that you would even compare them to a green boogie. Dirty, unnecessary, and full of shit. All you can do is take them out of your system but bleh, they just come and come.

But I write now to invite brighter feelings.

Cats. The love of my life.

Cats have been my favorite animal ever since I was a child. I have adopted countless stray cats from over the years. I love them because they are not difficult. They brush their head on your feet to tell you they love you. They would hiss if they hate you. They show the real state of whatever they feel about you. If they love you, they show it. If not, they show it. Just plain and simple..no difficulties.

I wish people are as simple.

On photos is my kitty, Lily

Dressmaking

I'm officially enrolled and will be starting in a few weeks after my Fashion Design thesis defense. *phew* It's really hard to save money since I'm semi independent and I work and pay for all my expenses. Thank you so much to all the people who has been part of my journey. I'm slowly making all my dreams come true. All these stress and sleepless nights are worth it. I hope I can still make it to Fashion Week this year. *crosses-fingers*
