Dorotee Sweetlips Upcycled Series // Peachy Day Dream

One of the pieces of the Day Dream collection I made for my Animetics fashion show last month. I was meaning to give each piece a proper preview shoot before listing them but I guess I just don't have the time right now. Too busy it hurts! Huhuhu.

Peachy Day Dream is a cute high waist jumper skirt perfect for Manila weather. Bodice is made of textured chiffon and bottom part is a dainty cotton with floral prints and white eyelet lace cotton. Finished with embroidered tulle trimmings.

Back has a low V cut. Really cute with that angel wing sleeves!

Matching head piece is a half bonnet with bow and flower hair clip.

This piece is part of my brand's project for a cause so I will be forever grateful if you share my work so we can help some furbabies out there. TIA! <3

Dorotee Sweetlips Upcycled Series // Ivory Day Dream

Kinda late as promised but here are the detail shots of Ivory Day Dream piece for the Dorotee Sweetlips Upycycled Series project.

The cut is a cute A-line shape perfect for a cross-over of cult party and lolita. It can also be styled into mori kei if worn without a petticoat.

Material is a nice cream cotton adorned with embroidered tulle lace.

The highlight: the detachable sleeves. Dress down by skipping the sleeves for a more casual look.

Simple twin bows as a matching accessory since the sleeves acts as an accessory too. Very cute when worn with twintails!

Craft inspiration // Decoupage

I forgot how it feels to be in the middle of a waiting game. I've always been the busy one.. My due is April 17 and up to now, still no signs of labor. I've alloted this month and next month for my maternity leave which means I didn't accept any big commission jobs because I'm afraid I might not be able to deliver to my clients. I was expecting to give birth first week of April considering I'm pretty active these whole 9 months but I was wrong. So yea, I'm here trying to fill my open time with productivity. I still accepted small commissions like accessories and stuff for it's still cash flow, worked on shop items and inventory, starting to flesh out project ideas I kept on pushing back. I appreciate the "open time" but it's somewhat frustrating.. i don't know.. I just want to give birth asap for I've never been this ready for a major life change. I'm like: "Bring it on, life" and life's like, "Meh.." Haha.

One of the projects I kept pushing back was making my kawaii corner in our apartment. And being a fan of shabby chic interiors and the habit of upcycling, I recently got hooked with the craft of decoupage. I've been seeing them for years already in Pinterest but not really giving them much attention before. Today, I've collected my favorite decoupage ideas to share with you guys. Hope it would spark some creative juices in you.

This is so "now" isn't it? I've seen a few vintage suitcases in malls but the price is not that friendly. I never thought of making my own before. This could be done with make-up cases too.

This one is soooo clever. I tried upcycling a pair of worn out shoes way back but it wasn't as neat as this for I still was not aware of the thing called Modge Podge (special glue and sealer for decoupage purposes). FYI, Modge Podge can be used for both paper and fabric. There are different types of it. There are basic ones and special ones that would endure outdoor weather. So cool right?

Nyaaa! So pretty~! Makes me want to hoard wooden hangers from our local thrift shop that sells them. These will go well with the dresses I make.

Storage with style! I hate our plastic (Monobloc) storage. So tacky! I'm so going to do this.

Paper tea cup hats! I've seen them way way back already but forgot about it. Haha. A good way to upcycle cardboards and get rid of my fabric stash / retaso.

Wallpaper isn't cheap so this delighted me a lot. Why haven't I thought of this? Decoupage decals unto walls for accent! You can use lightweight fabric or scrap booking paper if you want full coverage.

Didn't I just say I hate Monobloc products? I'm going to pretti-fy these plastic chairs soon!

Draw patterns on a decoupaged dressform - so smart! I'm more on flat patternmaking though instead of draping but this is innovation at it's finest!

And here's another version that would suit my needs more. It has a Papemelroti feel which I love. I have a couple of broken dressforms rotting at my mom's house. Good thing I didn't threw them away.

It's pretty few for I've selected them according to relevance with my lifestyle and it's functionality. There are lots of ideas in Pinterest and with it's growing community, the ideas just kept on adding each day I take a look it's kind of driving me crazy. Haha. By the way, Modge Podge is available locally in Deovir just in case you've been worrying about that. I'm so excited!

Dorotee Sweetlips Upcycled Series // Classic Rosetta

Here's a very wearable upcycled piece for the Dorotee Sweetlips Upcycled Series project. I've been growing quiet a number of patrons who likes my functional pieces more than my creative pieces.. I understand the feeling of enjoying to look at really frilly lolita dresses but sometimes we just can't find the courage to wear them out especially on a Philippine setting. It feels nice too to have a different set of audience - not specifically lolitas but also those who simply likes unique fashion. So yea, as always, part of the proceeds will be donated to animal welfare when this dress finds a new owner. Hope you can help me fulfill my simple cause.

Bodice's material is a nice georgette. It's a breathable fabric that is perfect for Philippine weather. It's adorned with bows made of quality ribbons.

Print is vertical strips of pale pink and white with lovely paisley print.

Hem is trimmed with a very soft cream lace.

Matching headdress is a bow made of chiffon.

Dorotee Sweetlips at MATA EXPO

And yet another successful Dorotee Sweetlips fashion show for this year took place at MATA EXPO. This event was full-packed! I met different kinds of people compared to the usual events I go to. I met a lot of new friends - special mention to the girls in Kawaii PH.. You girls are the best! It's been a while since I've been around with hardworking people and I can't help but feel the need to catch up. It's just sooo contagious! Thank you for letting me work with you, guys.

As always, I'm super proud of my girls. Very supportive of each other!

Two new ladies just joined my crew. They are the winners of the model search I recently hosted. On the left is Sanakan, my personal pick, and on the right is Cole, who won the the people's choice. Both of them are super easy to work with! And Cole kind of looks like Kirsten Dunst doesn't she? That makes us have our very own version of Marie Antoinette, haha!

Dorotee Sweetlips will be having it's last fashion show for this month (most likely for the first half of 2014 since I'm giving birth on April) at Letran on Feb 21 2014. Official announcement will be posted soon in my page.

Thank you so much to KL Portraits and Deyza Montalbo for the wonderful photos!

Lucy Pop Experience

Last week, we met Ms.Yukie of the seifuku brand, Lucy Pop during their mini meet at Big in Japan's Kiosk. You may read about the event in this post. Two days later, my friend Anne of Kawaii PH were invited by Ms.Yukie to come over to their hotel room to have a much more intimate look and experience on Lucy Pop's products. Thanks to Anne for tagging me along though it was very sudden. I really enjoyed it!

"Whoaaaa." - That's our exact reaction when we entered the hotel room. I admire how they organized the products. I can still remember Anne spazzing on the background because between her and me, this is more of her thing. Put me in a room full of frilly things.. I don't know what will happen. HAHA

Everything is sooo well-made.

These are my favorites since they have laces and charms on them. It kinda has the dolly x lolita touch in it.

Cute fabric!

TADAH! They were so kind to let us try and model an outfit too. It was actually my first time wearing a school girl outfit, haha! I was hiding my baby bump behind that bag btw. XD

You may also read Kawaii PH's article about Lucy Pop here.

And here's a video for you guys to enjoy. Sorry if the quality seems "meh". I only used a digital camera and I'm not really skilled when it comes to videography. Haha.
